COPPER
Characterized by its typical red colour, copper has a particular form of oxidation which allows to obtain a protective layer of different composition based on the atmospheric conditions.
CABLES
In order for an electric cable to be safe and efficient, it is also essential to use a good insulating material, which wraps the metal conductor preventing the current from going outside.
Copper: the power superhighway
Copper is a material that is widely used in the production of many commonly used objects because of its malleability and its excellent resistance, safety and recyclability. Used since the olden days, copper has proved to be essential in electrical cables and electronic devices, as well as in construction, cooking and many other fields.
Characteristics of copper
Copper is used in numerous sectors as it has characteristics such as to make it very versatile and resistant. Firstly, copper is highly malleable and ductile, so it can be easily processed and worked into the desired shape It is also an excellent electrical and heat conductor and it is infinitely recyclable, making it an eco-friendly solution, too.
Known for its typical red colour, it has a unique kind of oxidisation that achieves a protective layer with a different composition depending on the atmospheric conditions.
This is why this material is also widely used in construction to produce roofs and sheet metal, as well as in the rail sector , especially for the tracks. Even when it is installed outdoors, copper does not corrode. It generates a layer called verdigris, which protects the product and preserves it for years, ensuring durability and safety.
Types of copper
Copper wire is used as a semi-finished product in the construction of string conductors or in the electro-mechanical industry. It can also be insulated for the construction of rigid cables for low voltage and grounding. The copper wires can be supplied in the black state or with different degrees of work hardening (hard, semi-hard) upon customer request.
Rope
Flexible rope conductors are used for electromechanical applications, low and medium voltage electrical cables, earthing, transformer interiors, induction systems.

Cables: we give you our clean energy
One of the most common uses of copper is in the production of electrical cables. Wires made from this material are inserted into cables to leverage its electrical conductivity.
General characteristics of cables
Copper cables are a fundamental element in the production of civil and industrial systems because it is through them that electricity travels. This happens thanks to the electrical conductor present in the cables themselves. Depending on the material used, we have cables with conductors in copper, aluminium or aluminium and copper alloys, classified into four different categories in line with Italian standard CEI 20-29.
For an electrical cable to be safe and efficient, it is crucial to use a good insulation material, which covers the metal conductor, preventing the current from escaping.
PVC and polyethylene are two of the most widely used insulation materials in electrical cables but there are also solutions made from fabric material or oil-impregnated paper. Other elements that provide protection are the protection guard and the sleeve that covers the cores. These offer an extra level of safety in the event of shock or damage.
